We are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of our partner, a leading global logistics solutions provider recognized for its innovative approach, comprehensive service offerings, and commitment to customer satisfaction. Specializing in end-to-end freight management, they leverage advanced technologies and a worldwide network of carriers to deliver optimized supply chain solutions. Our partner is seeking a Director of Ocean Product to spearhead the strategic development and execution of their ocean freight services.

Strategic Product Leadership

  • Develop and implement the ocean freight product roadmap, aligning with overall company objectives and market demands.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, regulations, and emerging technologies to maintain a competitive edge in ocean freight offerings.
  • Carrier & Vendor Management
  • Establish and nurture strategic relationships with ocean carriers and service providers to negotiate favourable terms and ensure capacity.
  • Oversee performance metrics, ensuring service quality, cost-effectiveness, and adherence to compliance standards.

Operational Excellence

  • Collaborate with operations teams to optimize shipment flows, reduce transit times, and enhance reliability.
  • Identify and drive process improvements, leveraging technology and best practices to streamline end-to-end ocean freight operations.
  • Team Leadership & Development
  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing ocean freight team, creating a positive environment that fosters professional growth.
  • Set clear performance goals, monitor progress, and support ongoing learning and development initiatives.

Financial Management

  • Develop and manage the ocean freight budget, ensuring alignment with corporate financial targets.
  • Monitor product profitability, conduct regular cost analyses, and recommend strategies to enhance revenue and margins.
  • Client Engagement & Solutions
  • Work closely with sales and account management teams to design tailored ocean freight solutions that address client requirements.
  • Engage in high-level client discussions, showcasing the value proposition and unique differentiators of the ocean product line.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management
  • Ensure all ocean freight operations comply with global maritime regulations, customs requirements, and environmental standards.
  • Implement robust risk management processes, maintaining the integrity of the supply chain and safeguarding company interests.

Qualifications & Experience

Industry Expertise: Extensive experience in ocean freight, with a proven track record of leading and developing successful ocean product offerings.

  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to manage and inspire cross-functional teams, setting clear objectives and driving results.
  • Negotiation & Relationship Building: Strong carrier negotiation skills and the capacity to cultivate long-term partnerships with vendors and stakeholders.
  • Strategic Mindset: Ability to balance short-term operational demands with longer-term product growth and innovation.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with TMS, ERP, or other logistics-related systems, and an aptitude for leveraging technology to optimize processes.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and clients.
